gene made me

Gene Blakefield is calling me out on my lack of blogging, so I dug through the graveyard and found this old t-shirt design for a game tournament. Sorry for the lack of updates. My laptop’s in the shop.

shady characters

The megatalented Jared Deal invted me to be a part of this incredible show in Brooklyn. Here’s what Cartoon Brew said about the event recently…

“Shady Characters” is an art show that opens Friday, July 28th, at the ‘Live with Animals’ Gallery (210 Kent Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11211; entrance to the gallery on Metropolitan). Opening reception is from 6-9pm. The show, curated by Jared Deal, is “simply a tribute to all of the creepers and tweakers, outcasts and outlaws, and freaks and geeks, we encounter daily.” Participating artists include Deanna Marsigliese, Clio Chiang, Steve Lambe, Gabe Swarr, Rex Hackelberg, Anna Chambers, Mark Ackland, Todd Kauffman, Joel Trussell, Bobby Chiu, Martin Wittig, Aaron Augenblick, Phil Rynda, Peter Browngardt, Danny Kimanyen, Randy Ramos, Garnet Syberg-Olsen, Jamie Mason, Chris George, Eric Nocella, Dino Alberto, Jason Levesque, Tim Shankweiler, Eric Brown, Mark Pecoraro, Pat Pakula, Kevin Schmid, Kaori Hamura, Richard Mather, Rod Filbrandt, and Deal himself. Stay tuned to Jared’s blog for additional details.

I ended up doing an acyrlic piece which is always the most difficult for me. There’s some terrible tangents that formed and there’s some things I still feel weird about but it’s done and on its way.

LA times

LA was nothing short of phenomenal. Thanks to everyone for making it such a excellent experience. I met a ton of supertalents that inspire me everyday.

Last week I also had the opportunity to participate in an art show for Family Guy in Manhattan. The original title was “Keeblerquest” but I think due to copyrights “Cookiequest” was used instead. The painting is pretty reminiscent of one my past pieces, but somehow it felt right. Traditional work is always intimidating but fun to work with. This was the biggest gouache piece I’d ever worked on.

Anyhow, enough blabbing from me. I got a pile of stuff to work on now.

I knew this blog would lose steam after a while. Sorry kids. Lots of incredible stuff happening. Been working with the good people of Wild Brain and Camp Chaos on things I can’t share yet. For now, here’s a grab from a project I’m working on that I hope to finish soon. Looking forward to hooking up with everyone in LA. S’gonna be good times.

my apologies

Sorry for the delay. I’d be better off not mentioning these things until after they happen. Anyhow, here’s another image. I know some of you guys have already seen this stuff. One day I swear… fresh content will appear!

Oh yeah and does anyone out there know how to throw together a simple DVD?

So I’ve finished up the new video for Coldcut. Just working on a good web version now. Thanks to all who helped out. I’ll give the proper shouts once it’s officially posted. Sit tight!

Oh on a related note… I’ll be taking off to the LA Film Festival where they’ll be showing the War Photographer video. Gonna try and see as many friends as possible while I’m back on ze Left Coast.
